That is a thought. Maybe I am and I have been socialized to think that I am human. I could be a plant and I will be activated when my people come to take over the world.
bxgrl, please site the evidence. Seriously. I read science all the time.
Is the evidence you have seen something other than the fossil record?
There have been some interesting computer simulations (I don’t consider that evidence) that have mostly found problems with the suggested evolutionary time line.
The more difficult conversations I have with my kids are when they ask about God. When it comes to evolution, that’s easy. I just tell them what the current state of play is in scientific thinking, and if they ask I’ll just say no one is really sure and there are scientists who are working very hard to answer these kinds of questions.
When it comes to God all I’m willing to say is that some people believe certain things and that’s up to them. Luckily they haven’t ever asked me if I believe in God. My wife does, but I’ve been very clear with her that I’m not going to tell my kids anything other than actaul verifiable truth, and if there is no verifiable truth I’ll just say that.
I also know to steer clear of questiosn about Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy.
Lech- first of all, I am not deriding anyone so stop the baiting. Secondly, I am not saying it is the way things actually happened but based on scientific data, this is what seems to be the most possible for the origin of life. I am saying Gem seems to be rejected that out of an emotional reaction to the idea that a single cell organism might have become life as we know it today.
DCB- kindly look up the meaning of scientific method.
One simple explanation for failure to believe in the latest evolutionary theory is faith in God. Either side may be wrong (you’ll never know for sure), but I don’t think that means someone is wrong or uneducated because they don’t believe one thing or another. One man’s proof is another man’s unproven theory.

Yes, and that is how they will know you.

No one wants to open up the article I posted about a snake biting a girl with fake boobies and dying of silicone poisoning? :o(
