  1. “lechacal, I thought you were arguing the opposite side on this one?”

All I have done today is to point out the limitations of our current understanding of the origins of life.

There is a lot of very good science on stuff like speciation. It is supported by stuff like DNA analysis and empirical observation.

The further back we try to go, the fuzzier it gets.

And if you want to believe there is a “design” to the whole thing, that’s up to you, and that isn’t inconsistent with current evolutionary theory.

There’s really not much else to say.

  2. “DNA analysis and empirical observation lend plenty of support.”

True, but since the connective evidence is absent, that is a case of using the data to fit a pre-conceived notion.

This happens in science all the time. And then other theories come along which are a better fit. There are scores of examples of this in science history.

  3. “People are very uncomfortable that we know so little about our origins. So they adopt a highly exaggerated faith in evolution theory. That is a distortion of science.”

    +10 blogpoints for DCB.

  4. “y’all wrong. we were created from some dude’s rib. recognize.”

Wrong!!! You decendants of the pyramid building aliens and have mutated over time. My people. I am a pure un-mutated being.

  5. “There is certainly plenty of data. Most of it has to do with the fossil record. Virtually none of it supports the idea that one species turns into another.”

DNA analysis and empirical observation lend plenty of support.

    wait?

lechacal, I thought you were arguing the opposite side on this one?

…or is it dibs and bxgrl’s “absolute” certainty part that you disagree with?

  6. Gem- then please explain to me how you came to that decision. Or rather, what part of it do you accept? I’m asking- not to insult you in any way , but curious as to why you feel that way- especially as no one has said we are at the end of all the research and this is what it is. The research is ongoing. I listen to kids today talk about science and scientific research and it seems to me that many of them really don’t have a good basis in the sciences- but that’s the fault of the curriculum, not the student.
