Also ENY, as I’m posting here today I’m also filtering news on Bloomberg pages, randomly searching stock charts, surfing Silverdaddies and craigslist, ordering parts for my boat and trying to decide which tomato plants to order this year, as well as monitoring my personal stock account and the yield on my IRA.
I remember getting a speech** from one of the partners when I was maybe a 4th or 5th year associate. He said I was working too hard, and that I would never really progress if I kept doing that. He basically told me to work less but focus on making the more important decisions more quickly and accurately and then let other people stay up all night working on less demanding things. He said if I work 20 hours a day folding paper all I can ever be is a paper folder. No one will ever promote me from paper folder just because I’m the best paper folder out there. He used an example of a brilliant tax partner who is known for sitting in his office in the dark playing video games, and every once in a while someone pops into his office and asks a question and he answers it. And because he gets it right every time, and the questions deal with how to structure multi-billion dollar deals, he gets to play video games and take home a few million a year.
[**This conversation did not actually take place. It’s more of an amalgam of various conversations and realizations I have had over the years. The tax partner really does exist.]
And yet, ENY, you still cannot debate the actual facts of the WI situation. Just make gross generalizations. On thias matter you’re the liberals’ version of Rush Limbaugh.

“The bill, known as the “budget repair bill,†also would eliminate nearly all collective bargaining rights for state workers”
“Nearly all” is the issue. It will not eliminate collective bargaining for wages.
The blanket statement is akin to the Teacher’s Union saying all the kids are going to suffer if we start changing the rules for the teachers’ union.
I don’t think Federal govt employees have a right to collecteive bargaining, so not sure why obama joined the fray.

“And, I don’t spend minutes, hours, days and evenings blogging here, as you’ve probably noticed.”
