  1. Jackal, years ago when I was a youngen working on a leglislative staff, I could eat dinner for free in Albany any night the legislature was in session due to all the groups hosting receptions for legislators. Lots of NY wine and cubes of NY cheese, with the occasional carving table. There was a LI fisherman’s association, however, that would show off once a year with a great spread of local seafood.

  2. I understand, M4L- I saw my parents do the same thing, and saw how hard they worked so my sister and I could go to college. Luckily we also got scholarships as well.

    Oops- sorry Lech. I forgot you’re a lawyer 😉

  3. bxgrl, if I was growing up in China, it would be alot easier to accept being poor and being poor in the future as it’s hard to break out of that in China back then. Seeing all the oppties in the country, I was utterly disgusted with how hard my parents have to work to make peanuts and how easy it was to get a college degree and make decent money. So yes, I was utterly disgusted at being poor. Not directed to my parents but at the situation. it was easy for us kids to break out of the cycle but the wait was a little crushing – ie disgusted by age 10 but realized I wouldn’t be out of college till 21 or so.

  4. I called one line you wrote bullshit. And I stand by it. I said you “sounded”- where did i attack your life? There weren’t any personal insults and you know it. As to what choices you think I ma promoting- please elucidate exactly what it is you think I am saying (because I can guarantee you, you have no idea)
