  1. bxgrl,

On the Ridgewood-Bushwick border the main players are the Hipsters moving along the L train, the Mexicans along Myrtle and throughout the Brooklyn side and the Eastern Europeans on the Queens side.
There doesn’t seem to be a great tension between any of these groups, mainly they just ignore each other and talk about the others behind their backs I’m sure.

  2. Mrs. D refuses to give this stink-ass dog of hers a bath, altho she keeps saying she will.

I’m gonna take him to a groomer in the nabe later.

Are you supposed to tip the groomer and if so how much?

  3. dh,

Yes, it’s largely a wave of Polish immigrants in Ridgewood today, along Fresh Pond Road (last stop on the M) you will find Eastern European delis and service agencies.
They are muscling in as any group of immigrants working en masse do, that is, they are opening shops and services catering to their own people.
This is often perceived with apprehension from established groups living there already. Yes, they do tend to rent to their own family and friends so that’s become apparent.

  4. Lech, just getting back and saw your invite and it is too late, but thanks. I am in the process of reconfiguring my life, i.e. several out of office “meetings”. AAhhh… I met someone today who is running what appears to be a great operation. There may be life after death, after all.

    Hi Pete.

  5. “The Egyptian people consider the army as their friend.”

Yes, someone was just saying exactly that. So many Egyptians serve, etc. they have a very positive sense/relationship to their military. Interesting.
