After Virginia Tech they should have similarly moved to actively pursuing and seeking reports on troublesome students. Why the police didn’t contact the county mental health group is a huge blunder, although that word doesn’t do it justice.

There is no connection between the Giffords shooting and the level of political discourse. Those that are making a connection, and calling for more ‘civility’ etc are just making a lame attempt to quieten their opponents. In other words trying to use a random event to further their own narrative.
