I should have a b’stoner movie night at my house soon where we watch a chuck norris movie from the 80s. One of the ones with a one-sentence plot and 90 minutes of him being awesome.
Great. I’ll tell you my last name.
Rob, I have always thought of the OT as the playground near where I grew up, complete with monkey bars, fights, rock throwing, kids climbing over the fence at night to drink beer, boys teasing the girls and boys having fun/bonding by punching the shit out of one another.
slopefarm,
I can’t argue with your concern about a political environment which has become highly charged and polarized.
To answer your question, yes, I am concerned about the tone that politics has taken recently and I too have friends in office and travel in political circles.
The solution, in my humble opinion is not to add fuel to the fire however. We both know that there are many on both sides fully capable of doing that.
A solution is for both sides to recognize once and for all that there are troubled individuals on both sides of the fence. For every Lee Harvey Oswald there is a Timothy McVeigh and many in between.
When every event on the national stage, however, becomes a referendum on who is to blame, then you have a prescription for more anger and resentment. For more violence.
I have stated before that my views are somewhat pessimistic, knowing history as I do. Which is why I am so vocal in defense of the “Right” here in the OT, when in reality, I’m not a typical Right winger. I hold many liberal views.
I do disagree with one point you made, that you didn’t have this sense of forboding during the Bush years. In fact, I would say it started to go off the rails during those years.
Exhibit A: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0853096/
a film about the “Assassination of President Bush”
