  1. Someone in our midst had a rather serious stalker (in real life!), or so I’ve heard, which makes the Dick Tracy routine understandable.

And yes, Denton, I mentioned right away to Blowfish that I have outed myself several times by accident, and my daughter at least once or twice.

  2. I believe in information parity.

I don’t share my name or hard identifying information about myself online because random weirdos about whom I know nothing could see my information without my seeing theirs.

If I’m hanging out at a brownstoner event, I use my name and don’t hide anything about myself. I expect others to do the same. Almost all do.

You will not get invited to my home unless I know exactly who you are. (a number of brownstoner regulars have been in my home).

  3. I think it’s ok for cgar to have bragging rights. Yes, he likes to brag, but when I want to contact a PLUSA and I don’t have contact info, he passes along the message cheerfully!

He’s the secretary for Pres. Biff.

  4. I agree w/ Snappy that we discourage new people from joining if we appear too casual about personal info. Remember we were all new once & tentative about taking part. If we become the “in” crowd it’s like those teen bullies in high school. Newbies add more fun to the OT.

  5. benson, thanks for reminding me that no one will use Nvidia’s chips in a super-computer except the dumb Chinese. I bought it the day you said it, and it’s up another 8.5% today.

Up 60% since I looked into it just a few weeks ago during that convo!

  6. I don’t mean the people who have no problem with it….it’s just that it seems as if there is pressure to do so which I know freaks some people out. Blowfish, my post wasn’t aimed at you, or anyone in particular really. Just stating an opinion.
