“I don’t mean the people who have no problem with it….it’s just that it seems as if there is pressure to do so which I know freaks some people out.”
“Most don’t withhold, some do though until they get comfy with the idea. Just takes a while for some folks.”
Snappy, in my opinion, it all depends on how one goes about getting someone’s real name and personal details. It’s one thing if someone voluntarily chooses to share their personal information with others here. I respect the privacy of people here, and wait for them to share their personal information with me, but only if and when they are ready to do so.
If sarah gives you heartburn she is easily avoidable. The cable “news” shows have relatively little ratings and thus preach to a small electorate. I’ve managed to not listen to her or read her missives since her ghastly performance in the pres elections.
I’m waiting for Judge Crater to make a statement though.
Even at gatherings I tend to use the OT handle since that’s my referrence – sort of like when you’re invited to call a doctor or a teacher by his first name but you don’t because the title – Mr., Mrs. Doctor – is just part of a name, no longer a title.

Wow. I really know how to shut a party down, now don’t I!
Agree with lech. I use my real name when I meet a new non-brownstoner person, so makes no sense to withhold when meeting a brownstoner person.

“we’re all just hue-mons”
Speak for yourself.
“You will not get invited to my home unless I know exactly who you are. (a number of brownstoner regulars have been in my home).”
Fair enough.
we’re all just hue-mons
“He’s the secretary for Pres. Biff.”
HA! Just had an image of him with long, pink nails, cracking gum and answering phones 🙂
