  1. Legion;

The other changes I’ve noticed in NYC since I was a kid 40-45 years ago:

-caterpillars/butterflies. Used to be lots of them! The caterpillars used to love London Plane trees especially.

-robins and bluejays. Used to be much more frequent.

On the other hand, Peregine Falcons and racoons have returned.

  2. Yes, I want to see that ET. I have heard all about it and it seems like it would be great. I used to go to the top of the World Trade Center when I worked there. I would go the back way through all the internal elevator banks and through a corporate kitchen of somebodies and voila, then I was on the TOP of the WTC. I would go at lunch or just to get the hell out of work. It was 2 WTC so it wasn’t the tourist building anyway, it was what you probably get when you go to the museum. You get to see the whole city.

    I miss the WTC.

Also I love going over the city from the air at night. Or anytime and identifying what I can as we go by.

  3. Hi – am in the city at temp job(hence the complete lack of my posting daily) – but can anyone tell me who lives in BK, Park SLope if the snow is sticking and piling up????

    Thanks

    miss you guys!

  4. “In some of the pics, you see people along the railing which will give you some indication of how large this panorama is.”

…you also get to walk over the Panorama on a glass floor that gives you the illusion of being a mile high over the city. good for scaring the kids.

    bxgrl,
avian flu? things like that are very troubling.
I can say that one environmental concern that I have witnessed first hand is the demise of the wild Honey Bee in New York City.
As a kid, I would catch them by the dozen along the privet hedge’s small white flowers.
I haven’t seen a single one in 5 years, and I have a privet hedge in my backyard. Plenty of Bumble Bees though.

  5. OMG! donatella. You get your car out of the pound and get your 3″ stiletto wearing feet to the Queens Museum ASAP!!!
Everybody we’ve taken to see the map has been enthralled by it. Bring binoculars if you have them. I always forget and would love to see some of the buildings closer.
It’s huge and some buildings are far and I always want to get a closer look.

    Go on a date there.
