  1. “I don’t believe any intelligence turned out to be wrong. I think the “intelligence” never existed; was fabricated and sold to the US citizens as the truth. It was a big lie.” told knowingly.
    totally agree.

  2. biff,

You are applying a moral equivalence to an elected democratic leader who went to war on admittedly flawed intelligence but in a time of unprecedented national security concerns.

The people of Iraq had their leadership and failed to get rid of a mass murdering despot.
The US proceeded in protecting its national security and its interests (whether that is right is up for debate)giving Iraq no less than a year of warning.

What came after was a series of wars on Iraqi soil in which, as always in war, innocents paid the highest price.
First a war against the Iraqi army itself which lasted until the fall of Baghdad.

Second a war against Al Queada which swept into the power vacum. This war ended with the death of the leader of Iraqi al quaeda. So to answer slopefarm’s question, no Iraq wasn’t responsible for 9/11, Bush managed to kill a hell of alot of them on the battlefields of Iraq.

Lastly a proxy war with Iran in which they attempted to arm and incite a Shiite led takeover.

…and Chavez just gave himself even more powers.

You do know this can never end well?

  3. “Do you feel the same way about soldiers that kill multiple people in the line of duty?”

No, the majority of them are mostly pawns; being used and abused by the government. I hope they all return safely and without having harmed themselves or others.

“I mean, the intelligence/motivation may have turned out to be wrong, but there were (some) proper channels taken before the wars started.”

I don’t believe any intelligence turned out to be wrong. I think the “intelligence” never existed; was fabricated and sold to the US citizens as the truth. It was a big lie.

  4. and the rest of the article…
Meanwhile, Manhattan numerologist/astrologer Ostaro believes the big winner will be “a recluse, someone whose personality is very unusual.” Susan Miller at Astrology Zone told the paper, “Somebody will win because we have a partial eclipse of the sun in Capricorn, which rules big money.” She also believes that a Gemini “has an edge,” but also said a Sagittarius may win.

If you aren’t a reclusive Gemini, that doesn’t mean you won’t get the golden ticket—one Mega Million hopeful simply believes “you have to be positive” to win.

  5. legion — I know about the intetlligence wall and sadly, we may be rebuilding it due to wiki leaks backlash. But even with the wall, bush and his top team were getting some pretty alarming info and briefings before 9/11 but I am not aware that they ever changed footing. I do not come close to blaming him 100% for the intelligence failure, but even with the system they inherited they made the least of their chances to catch this.

  6. “Chavez is fascinating and a far better man than the majority of former US Presidents.”

You have got to be fucking kidding me. In fact, I’m almost certain you are, but to address the 1% chance that you are serious, do you actually know anything about what is going on in Vz now (other than whatever you have picked up from Michael Moore movies)? I have a a bunch of recent experience there. It’s bad. Chavez is a petty, corrupt tyrant. His friends are getting very very rich right now.

Seriously though, unless you can do more than parrot some leftist filmmaker, your credibility on Chavez is basically nil.
