BFD, denton, I shoveled 7 houses, at least 6 times since Sunday night. Thought I could do it up till about 11PM Sunday but gave up after 3-4 times around 9 or so. 🙁
Got up Monday and did the nexy 12-16″ of drifts. By then some of the neighbors had started.
My husband went to work today – he left late at 8:15 and got in at 9:45am – took the R train!
get this – he said there were stops (Prince/Canal) that when the train doors opened the platforms had SNOW AND ICE on them and hadn’t been cleared – so when people got off the train they were slipping on the icy platforms
WTF?
Can anyone give me a local road report from Bay Ridge today? Particularly 4th/3rd aves and around the 70’s side streets? Are the side streets still not drivable?
Morning everyone. They still haven’t plowed Pacific Street. In front of my house we’ve got drifted snow and huge piles in the middle of the street from people who dug their cars out, not that they could go anywhere with them.
I’m not usually one to call for heads to roll, but this is ridiculous. In all the years I’ve lived here, there has never been a storm where we weren’t plowed out within 12 hours of the end of the storm. Now we’re reading that no one ordered the buses to have chains, which they usually have. Duhh. This storm didn’t blow in overnight without notice. The weather reports were tracking from the middle of last week. There really is no excuse for this.
Put salt on the sidewalk. It will be too late when you get home, but if you do it tonight, by the time you get home tomorrow it will be slushy instead of solid. Maybe even by the morning if there are enough people walking over it.
If I get out, I will write to you and maybe I can get there and do it for you. Of course my car is buried too, and plowed in. My block was plowed multiple times but I guess it’s considered a main drag. I’m sure the side streets are awful.
denton…I took aspirin Sunday night. After the really deep stuff Sunday morning, I probaly ate 4x that day!!!
I had an EKG about a month ago so it all felt pretty good and not sore now!!!

I’m shoveling three houses and my shoulders, neck, and back are not as sore as I thought they might be.
