gem: you cant get in trouble for things like a joint on you anymore (well for the most part i guess).. a ticket i think. they could take you in, well they will take you in if you give them lip, look a tad on the brownish side like you are doing something other criminal, or if you dont have ID or if you just get freaked out and “resist”. so really the new law of having a joint on you being okay doesnt help anyone unless you are, well, you know. i hate getting into race and politics and police crap cuz it brings out a lot of stuff, but some NYU kid smoking a joint down broadway versus someone in bedstuy doing the same, well, yeah, someone is going to be treated better and someone is going to be treated worse. (tho supposedly the cops DO like to bring the NYU and Columbia kids down to the tombs cuz they kinda sorta hate them too) a big shit and pony show for shits and giggles. i think the racial differences come into play in non gentrified areas and uber gentrified areas.
