Donatella, my cat had an infection and peed outside the box a couple of times. It took me months to track down and clean all the smell. He absolutely wasn’t doing it anymore but until I found every single spot on the walls, baseboards, floor, my stuff (shopping cart with a plastic liner) that was touched by the pee, there was a lingering scent in the room.
Some people just don’t have a sensitive nose for that stuff but it made me crazy until I tracked it all down and washed or disposed of everything.
Ooof, Donatella – I would HATE to play the who can out-nice the other game. I thought only Southerners did that!! You sound like a great landlord, btw – custom colored walls!
Which one of you losers is impersonating my kitty??? I’ll have you know that Pia only gets on the computer to email Arkady’s cats…and occasionally googles info while she plots Mr. Bu’s demise.
Ringo, those houses are ridiculous and actually fairly reasonably priced vacation rentals. I’m saving the link and might actually use it one of these days.
You are right Jessi. She is. But she does it in a very nice, polite way. She pays me at LEAST 2 weeks in advance. She is neat as a pin. I have learned how to deal with things though. I just very politely but flatly told her, no bikes chained up. And that was the end of it. This year, I totally redid her apartment, giving her all new light fixtures, including a nice chandelier with real crystals, I had her walls skim coated and painted with several decorator colors which I picked out to match her stuff. We play this game of who can be nicer. It is a game but it is better than fighting about stuff.

My neighbors had really old trees (more than 15 years old – that’s how long I have been on the block) with large stumps. Was yours a new tree?

Clay litter and even a lot of the clumping clay litters don’t keep down the smell enough. World’s Best is great. From corn cobs.
Arkady, I guess you have the formula. Change the litter every day. Just change it.

I have two cats, but they are not allowed in the parlour or the bedrooms. If you are really diligent about the litter you won’t have any odors.
