My gr. grandmother worked, she was a fashion buyer for fancy department stores. She travelled to Europe several times a year to look at the collections. She would make drawings of the clothes, and I remember seeing them in magazines which I found in my gr. fathers sort of storage room. She and her husband (a banker) lived on Park Ave. When the depression came, my grandparents moved in with them.
Bush and his administration whipped this country up into a patriotic frenzy to promote the Iraq War. Suffice it to say the voters were fooled. (well, those who voted for him again, anyway). All his comment means is that he never learned from his mistakes. He couldn’t back down at that point so he whipped it up.
“Why do we expect that Iraq will
not suddenly join the international
community of functioning democratic nations
as a useful and productive ally?”
Yes, because the true aim of all American invasions has been to spread democracy. It’s never been about anything else.
We should probably invade a bunch more countries under false pretenses and kill hundreds of thousands of civilians and watch more American troops die because clearly that will turn those countries around and make them valuable allies to us. That’s why America is so beloved and admired by so many countries these days.

Is it any wonder there is a growing global network of terrorist organizations whose aim is to destroy America?
rf, did you have a chance to talk with either Legion or benson at Noki??? They’re actually both really nice people, and, as has been posted here before, once you meet people in person, you tend to view them differently on the blog.
Etson- Spitalsfield? They made particularly gorgeous high end fabrics there.

bxgrl, why bother with Legion? Benson either. They are what they are and they are not interested in dialog.
rf,
that’s rather insulting no?
is your usual response to informed discussion on controversial issues, to dismiss the opposition?
lol, no wonder the dems lost so badly in November.
memo to myself: rf gets the Micheal Moore collection for
the Holidays.
