benson- that was a declaration of policy. It was not declaration of war. And as it is, it is not the US’ place to impose a government on another country. If that were the case we would be running wars in nearly every nation on the face of the earth.
Lechacal- so your mom was Superwoman? Jeez- that has got to be hard to live with ;)”
Kind of I guess. Her IQ is waaaay off the charts and she’s always been first in her class in every school she’s gone to, and she made a big deal of being supermom even when she was going to med school, and she gives away all of her $$ by doing medical missionary work in the third world. The list kind of just goes on like that. But she has no ability to relate to other humans on any kind of emotional level. It’s a problem. That’s all I think needs to be shared. This isn’t a f’ing therapy session for chrissakes.
My mother worked and had 7 kids. One didn’t really make it out of infanthood, but she definately had all those kids. And she had them in 10 years! I was the oldest. My mother worked as a nurse and my father worked two jobs. So there was a lot of housework and a lot of kids. What happens in those stepup families is that the older kids do a lot of housework and child care. It’s how it works. I am sure nothing would have made my mother happier than to be at home cooking and cleaning all day. Nothing! After we all grew up, she got her desire. Now she is the most amazing neat freak super duper housekeeper, cooking maniac you have ever seen. She cooks, and cleans, the house is neat as a pin (not so when we were young). She is also the organizer of two sets of “Streetwalkers”, women who walk the streets for exercise (NY and Florida). She walks FAST for 1 solid hour every day with these ladies. She is 88.
“Iraqis never bought that uranium cake from Niger (ala Joe Wilson and the outing of Valerie Plame.”
donatella,
I see your points on the other aspects of the lead up to war you mentioned,
I do believe however that Joe Wilson was discredited on his assertion that Iraq was not seeking to purchase Uranium yellow cake.
We’ll have to take that up tomorrow as I have to leave work now.
My main argument however is that bxgrl is totally willing to consider Iraq a failure at this point in time, when we just left.
It is a functional democracy, and for whatever flawed reasons for going in, it may just turn out to be a huge strategic win in the long term.
That’s why I pointed to WWI as an example that in retrospect, might be thought of as a “fiasco”. Wilson was re-elected for his initial stance not to join the war.
OK>>>UNIONS HAVE GONE TOO FAR…Doctors are going on strike at Harlem hospital…they get major college tuition discounts for children at Columbia and they are going to lose these. TYPICAL ENTITLED UNION BEHAVIOR.
Sure bxgrl but you may well know more than I do!
On another thing I’ll e-mail MM to sort out a time for dinner when I am back. Sorted out my Jan dates now.
Benson, I will read that. Thank you for the link.
Oh and there was the time she blew up a house. That was kind of a problem.
great etson. We look forward to it.

“I will say however that since we were in Korea, Vietnam, Iraq I, Afghanistan and Iraq II, someone has to re-learn that the use of atomic bombs”
Once you unleash atomic weapons, there is no winning. It’s game over. this isn’t 1945, it’s 2010.
