  1. DCB, I’m not surprised. Employment discrimination legislation is one of the most destructive forces out there when it comes to new employment.

The Daniel Goldsteins of the world are another.

  2. “By bfarwell on December 8, 2010 10:25 AM

Lech- and I’m on the red phone to the illuminati getting it put into place. Gimme a minute, will you??”

Sweet. Tell them I say hello. Ask how the kids are.

  3. ishtar, the tax break on capital improvements is in the current legislation that Obama approved.

Your parents would spend more if they saw demand pick up…which is not guranteed with tax breaks but certainly would not happen with taxes rising.

  4. “A lot of them just don’t want to look like profligate spenders in hard times.”

I guess. If I earned the money and can afford to buy $1500 boots, I’m buying them. I’m sorry if my neighbor is out of work, but I’m not lowering my expectations or standard of living to please anyone. I would like like a total jackass if my starving neighbor asked for a can of beans and I acted stank about it. Now THAT’s not right.

  5. Lech and bfarwell: In my life I have invested 3 times in other peoples ventures, and have been lucky all 3 times.

All 3, unrelated business, were sued for discrimination. All 3 lawsuits were completely meritless. These business all had big numbers of minority employees, all extremely well paid.

All 3 ended up settling after years in court. Absolutely ludicrous.
