Wal-Mart helps poor people by providing an affordable source of things they need.

Should we have them jack up their prices to pay their workers more and thus lower the standard of living of the family of four that earns $30k a year?

This is like limousine liberals not understanding why people in the inner city don’t eat organic vegetables and free range chicken.

RF – you are sweet to ask about me – I needed a break from brownstoner so I could focus most of my day on finding a job etc, plus last week I was super busy cooking, baking, cleaning and trying to rest etc
So I have decided to at least get a temp job, so I reached out to some temp agencies and have 3 interviews this week – so here’s hoping.

I’ve never been in a walmart!

I’m only a family of 2. So walmart doesn’t want me.

But if we think life for some people should be less shitty, what we should do is raise the minimum wage and not blame corporations. Ditto for health insurance.

I read once that the target demographic for WalMart is a family of four making 30k. Costco, otoh, was a family with income of 80k.

When we bought a house in Lake George a few years ago we made our first and last trip to a WalMart. We needed the basic stuff for he house, you know, towels, curtains, plates, glasses, toaster etc. What a bunch of crap.

We left and found a Target instead.

Target in the city pays $8.
