I read the Surgeon General’s warning on a pack of cigs. So now I am a surgeon and a general. I’ll fix you right up if my troops wound you in combat.
OK, a tech question. We are looking to leap frog several decades and bring our TV/video watching from the 1970s to present.
Set-up now: 10+ year old tv (not flatscreen); indoor antenna with digital converter; no cable; no reception for channel 13 (4th floor in low rise ‘hood); dual vcr/dvd player; wii (circa 2007).
Where we want to be in 4 months or so: flatscreen; ability to watch streamed content on tv, preferably wireless; no cable but access to a reasonable array of content beyond broadcast channels, relying not just on netflix but more current sources for new content and not too many steps to find it; channel 13; sticking with wii.
Any thoughts on the best way to set this up? Best brands for flatscreen? Best tech to access and display content? Best sources of content? Best way to reel in 13 without cable or roof antenna?
“I would expect more of them to end up in smaller places closer to cultural attractions in Manhattan.”
Totally agree L. At some point I could easily see us in a doorman 1 or (hopefully) 2br apt around 57th Street and 8th Ave. Walk to theaters and LC and restaurants, not have to drive or take subway.
rob, I don’t get it. I walk 5-10 miles a day into and around Manhattan and have never had an incident where someone punches, pushes, or pokes me. Are you vertical?
L, you also mentioned you thought an investment in timber would play out well cuz of rising price of oil. How does that square with living in the burbs where you need a car for everyone and energy costs will be high?
Denton, not suer about the Anaconda plant. I don’t know the Hastings waterfront. I know up the hill better.

Totally unconnected Denton. One is an investment decision and another is a choice of lifestyle.
I thought was already common knowledge that brklyn hts was a retirement community.
Thanx cobble, will wait for lesbi to come home. It is his macbook and his idea to hook this up so let him do it. I didn’t buy any of this junk.
But I did get the xmas tree up….put all those aluminum branches in the holes. Just need to plug in the colorwheel.
” That’s old news.”
Well excuuuuse me! I’ve been distracted lately, and I just heard about it.
