  1. “Pete, I have no idea if that will help. But I see a “detect displays” thingy there…”

I thought Macs always worked just right and you never had to tinker?

But I bet that mini-HDMI is to push content out of the puter (like movies) rather than being a second screen. But I don’t know diddly about Macs.

  2. “Oh, and if I go to a town and I see nothing but skinny white women with fake blond highlights wearing sweaters and riding boots I’ll just keep driving.”

    You should avoid Bedford then.

When a lil’ kid (like 10 or younger) I had to spend some time in Hastings. What I remember was the awesome abandoned Anaconda plant along the river. Slopey, is that still there?

Thanks Jester. I read the entire Wikipedia entry when I googled “sociology” the other day so I’m pretty much a sociologist now.

“in many ways NYC is a great place for retired folk and empty nesters.”

yeah okay, but make sure you stick to your access-r-ides and stay off the subway. aint in the mood for getting punched again! (i hope that didnt sound too mean ahhaha)

I read the entire PATH schedule yesterday, so I’m pretty much a pathologist now.

  5. the why – I haven’t really considered retirees. Thinking about it now I wouldn’t expect them to be as sensitive to the issues I’m highlighting as middle class families. The retirees aren’t moving into fringe area condos because they don’t need so much space, and they don’t care about schools. I would expect more of them to end up in smaller places closer to cultural attractions in Manhattan.

OTOH all it takes is a couple of muggings for someone to decide that the retirement home on the golf course in Florida isn’t such a bad idea after all.
