oh yeah what is up with marshmellows on sweet potatos. ew.
i do love me my canned jelly cranberry tho. that’s pretty much the only thing i buy for thansgiving.
“jeez bxgirl, looks like you too missed my point. i wouldnt be able to survive on unemployment so i’d be forced to go shelter or cardboard box. i would also turn to crime, i have no qualms in saying that.”
Why couldn’t you survive on unemployment? Da kid had no work for a year. She survived. Yes, she strung together the odd temp, babysitting, editing, yada yada jobs. IOW, she did what most unemployed peeps do–she hustled. And no we didn’t subsidize her. Support yourself, or come live in the basement.
m4l, when my daughter went to elementary school in Chinatown and I schlepped her back and forth every day, we had duck about once a week–a half duck chopped into pieces. They are so greasy–I used to take it home, wrap it in about 10 papertowels, and microwave it for a few minutes to degrease. Yummy!
A lot of the places we used to go are no longer there–selling counterfeit purses or whatever now. The Chinese supermarket/department store on the south side of Canal around Mott (maybe between Mulberry and Mott?)–I think it’s called Kaman? has good ones but a little pricey. There’s another good place on Grand just west of Mott, on the north side of Grand–right past the Little Italy block–also yummy. They are easy to find–ducks hanging in the window.
Hong Kong supermarket (used to be Dynasty) on Elizabeth and Hester has them too but I never tried them there.

I don’t gag easily but thought of putting marshmallows on real food would do it.
Thing I don’t like on my sweet potatoes:
marshmallows
maple syrup
pecans
walnuts
Things I love on my sweet potatoes:
brown sugar
butter
cinnamon
nutmeg

I did a tea duck in London once. I hung it out a window w/ a clear plastic tent over it. A neighbor called the cops – she thought it was a human limb.
yeah ew the pecans ruin it
