G10, you live in a select community called Brooklyn. You are not supposed to shop at WalMart or eat Butterball turkeys. You are supposed to buy heirloom tomatoes, belong to a CSA, eat locavore rabbits, and join the food coop.

I don’t stuff my turkey with stuffing. I make it as a side dish. I stuff the bird with onions and apples and fresh thyme and sage
Ok – here goes. My usual Thanksgiving menu:
Turkey
Homeade gravy
Whipped Sweet Potatoes with maple syrup,brownsugar and pecans
Collard Greens – it’s ok – I have my mother in law’s recipe
Baked Mac and Cheese (Alton Brown recipe)
Squash Gratin with gruyere and sage
Bread Stuffing – sometimes I do a cornbread stuffing with dried cherries – but not this year
sauteed green beens with almonds and shallots OR sauteed carrots with lots os fresh parsley and bacon
and I make a pumpkin pie and someone else brings the apple pie
Hmmm…duck sounds like a good idea.
My dad makes a really good tea smoked duck. I love how he hangs it from the vent above the stove in all it’s red deliciousness.
Where can I get a good one? I think I’ll do duck instead of turkey.

no rob, it went on its merry way thru various pieces of equipment so whatever came out wasn’t suitable for much of anything.
