Oh please. Rangel’s violations are nickels and dimes. A rent-controlled apartment used as a campaign office. Soliciting donations for a center to be named for him at City University. Not paying taxes on a rental income on a house in the Dominican Republic (we are not talking about Atlantic Yards here!). Extremely small potatoes, and I don’t blame his constituents for voting him in every time. This is not Tom DeLay or Rod Blagojevich!
Pete, my commute has gotten worst and I suspect it’s because more folks employed. when the big firings were taking place, I noticed the steady drop in traffic. so I hope the current heavier traffic is the reversal – ie more folks working
Well, I see that ole Charlie Rangel finally got his comeuppance.
In a way, it seems symbolic to me, as he represents another era. King of the “poverty pimps”, he comes from the school that believes the way to prosperity is to wangle as much money from the federal government as possible.
Memo to Charlie: the federal government is broke, the Tea Party is in the ascendancy and your day is done. Why not retire? Enjoy your villa in the Dominican Republic.
I read it. (thanks for not cutting and pasteing).
Made me think what if the crisis happened next year with the tea-party-infused republican-controled house of reps ?
