  1. Slopey;

    One of the most distressing aspects about the present state of New Orleans is that many of the old jazz clubs are gone, particularly on Bourbon Street. Does anyone remember when guys like Pete Fontaine and Al Hirt used to have cabarets/clubs there?

    Thanks for the top on the funerals! Will try to fit in, though I have a heavy schedule. I’m only taking this morning off due to my injury.

    Rob and Bxgrl;

    Whoa! Slow down there. My points are as follows:

    -these “museums” are often meant as tourist attractions, in order to revive a downtown. My comment is that they do a poor job of doing that (reviving a downtown).

    -It is my observation that these museums are often designed to be “Fun” and “Interactive”, so that they serve as a tourist attraction. As such, it is also my observation that they do a poor job as education tools. It might not be as fun and interactive, but cracking open a book and really reading about WWII is more effective.

    -my comment about New Orlean’s “centrality” is due to the fact tat this is our National Museum of WWII.

    Off to booth babe duty! Hope my ankle holds out.

  2. Re transferring trains, I COULD go to work without transferring if I walked to Atlantic Avenue, but then I would have to carry my high heels and wear flats to walk and life is complicated enough.

  3. plus museums provide educational field trips for kids in schools that dont have the budgets for looooooong trips to other states and cities. museums are not just for tourists, they sometimes serve as outside extensions for education, research, etc.
