I hate stereotypes, but why oh why did this father overstimulate his five year old on the subway and then punish him.
His idea to move the kid up and down off the seat numerous times, picked him up six or seven times to look out the window mostly over the bridge, pulled out a ball from his coat pocket to play catch, THEN had a loud long winded reasoning conversation with the son when he thought he was “acting up” when he wanted him to sit down and stop playing with the ball because he wasn’t being responsible to let it roll under the seats.
Ikea sells wooden railroad track compatible with the Tommy the Tank Engine stuff for, like, 1/3 the price of the name brand stuff. Lots of savings in the toy dep’t and it’s like a parallel universe to what’s in local stores so a great way to stop buying what everyone else is buying as birthday presents.
And, yes, I second the Kipling stories for reading to kids. Very colonial, but great way to introduce kids to what good, literate writing is like (without them knowing it).
Wind in the Willows and anything by E.B. White for when they are a little older.
No, Arkady I have to read them…..By the way, I went to Ikea in RH for the first time yesterday, when I finally rose from my bed. It was an Ikea, but the BEST was that they sell the most AMAZING and cheap kids stuffed animals. But they are so outrageous and funny and cute (also hand puppets) that I totally cheered up there watching the kids there and bought a bunch of Christmas presents. VERY CHEAP. For example they have these hilarious mice and RATS with funny faces for 5 bucks. I think I am going to give to tenants with their Christmas presents. I also bought some funny hand puppets and one like Lambchop for 6 bucks. Also bought a couple of fabric soccer balls and a gigantic red heart with arms and hands for 3.50.
Well back to work. It seems I still have a job for today anyway.

BTW they got of the train at 7th Avenue.
I can still taste bloody marys from yesterday in my mouth.

thank god I got the immigrant immunity for “close enough” grammar and spelling
Rangel needs to sell his tax exempt vacation homes to pay for his legal fees. What a loon, still thinking he’s a rooster. Good riddance.
Got Rangers tickets for 12/23 for pops and I. Should be fun.

Cobble, let’s not push your luck with the “heated” remark, k?
I have not Arkady. Great suggestion.
