  1. “Early music” – music from before the birth of Bach, as it’s commonly defined. 8 men singing motets, with two instrumental accompanists. There’s another one in early December; can’t wait.

  2. Rob, who said anything about drains on society? You really need to stop projecting your prejudices on entire groups of people.

There are good people in S8 housing, both tenants and landlords, and bad people in S8 housing, tenants and landlords. Just like market rate tenants and landlords. The program has helped lots of people, enabling them to live in decent homes. For those on both sides who play by the rules, it’s a win-win. Why begrudge anyone that?

You have a real jealousy and envy for people whom you perceive as getting something you can’t get, especially in housing. Get over it. I’m sure 95% of the people who are on subsidy would rather be making enough money to be on their own. Being poor is no fun walk in the park, subsidized housing or not.

“the whole voucher program has done more harm than good for a lot of people who choose to not be drains on society.”

    Oh really? How?

  3. Saturday night I went to an early music concert at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine. The building was closed except for the 60 or so attendees. The main room of the church was all packed up and empty except for one section of forty rows of chairs, and two small tables filled with burning candles. The concert ended at 10 pm and the aura of walking the entire length of the building, totally empty, no one around except one security guard way at the back door, the floor space cleared, the incredibly tall and grand archways going from the absolute ceiling down to the floor so that you need to walk around them, and the candlelight – that was truly staggering.

  4. Happy Bday Dave!
    So many birthdays in November!!

The marathon was awesome, every year we head down to 4th avenue in park slope and watch it and every year I tear up. All those people are so inspiring! How they can push their minds and bodies to continuously run for 26 miles is really beyond me.
