Legion – There can be no stories without language. The only information that would have been passed down before language was

– daily practices (toolmaking etc)
– whatever people happened to paint or otherwise leave a representational record of
But otherwise, once you and those who knew you were dead, the categories I listed above were the only information that could ever be passed on about you. No stories. No memory. Nothing. Gone forever without a record and without a way of passing along information.
“At fifteen, I set my heart on learning.
At thirty, I was firmly established.
At forty, I had no more doubts.
At fifty, I knew the will of heaven.
At sixty, I was ready to listen to it.
At seventy, I could follow my heart’s desire without transgressing what was right.”
you know what’s mind boggling?
we know the names of great people
throughout history, but only a fraction
of them.
Like who was the guy or woman who
gave us the wheel?
or first used fire.
they must have been known to
pre-historic people and their
stories passed down for millenia.
who’s the guy who first said,
hey, we’re carving pictures
on clay, why not start giving
each symbol a sound!
And let’s give all the sounds
we make a particular spelling.
who was the dude who said,
you know what? I’m not in the
mood for a slimy cold duck today,
stick that thing on a skewer and
roast it up cause I’m freakin’ hungry.

The guy whose cave drawings Pete tore down.

“My wife just called. She is happy because our new dog made its first dump since we brought her home on Sunday.”
You could have just sprinkled some crushed Dulcolax in the Alpo.
