I was the captain of a “renovation/salvage” barge from someplace like Burma (reference to ‘Stoner) and I was taking people along some sort of docks that had these incredible Gothic buildings on them (channelling Montrose). They were all inhabited by homeless people (fearful of selling in Bklyn & moving to Phila). We stopped at one that was filled with gays and lesbians all dressed in white (purity of heart)(I assume it was before Labor Day – concern w/ social acceptance) and we were going to foreclose on a dock next door and begin renovations (worry about lifestyle changes w/ retirement idea).
Houston has the Menil museum which is the first renzo piano’s building in the US, plus those delightful ice houses, nice to visit but would never live there.
Hill Country triangle from San Antonio, Fredricksburg/Austin quite livable, beautiful and liberal for those who appreciate those sensibilities. You’ll miss the snow though.
“If you have a mac (which you may not) you should just look on craiglist or ebay for a cheap used airport express to stream the music from your computer to your stereo. That’s what I did and I’m also in a concrete one room box.”
thanks NYGuy – yeah, my original question was about the airport express (also have a macbook), so I’ll definitely give that a look!
denton i dont have roaches either. im just saying that roaches are attracted to the bindings of hardcover books. and if you are on the subway with a hardcover book you are putting yourself at risk of possibly bringing home an infestation. dont you take the R train? the R trains are the most infested subway line in the whole system!!!
Where did I distort what you said? You said that we should look behind the headlines, and so I did. Rather than look at the monthly data, I looked at the annual data.
dibs — no one’s interpreted your dream, yet. Where’s noki when we need her? I think I heard once that white signifies chastity in dreams.”
Huh. Last night I was in the middle of a dream that definitely did *not* involve chastity, and it was pretty awesome, and then my 4 yo wakes me up to announce that he’s having nightmares and he’s scared and wants to sleep in mommy and daddy’s bed, which will never be allowed, like ever. Took like 30 minutes to convince him that the troll in his dream wasn’t real. Boy it’s really amazing what kind of lies I’m willing to tell when it’s the middle of the night and all I want to do is get back to sleep. Lies like “if you go back to sleep your next dreem will be a happy one” (who am I to say that). All children learn deceipt from their parents.

Are the posts showing up in spurts for anyone else? Is it just me?

Pete;

Did this dang thing freeze again? Argh!
While there are some things I love about Houston, the weather isn’t one of them.
