  1. wish I were going to be in DC, too.
Alas I have 3 guests coming up saturday, staying overnight then my brother and sister-in-law stopping by sunday morning for breakfast. I’ll be slave to cooking/cleaning/entertaining.

  2. “Not that I’m aware. In what way? The SEC has a ton of issues, but as far as I’m aware not because of anything Bush did. IMHO the biggest problem is that the SEC is run by lawyers (with apologies to my friends who are there).”

You’re right. If those lawyers never worked as investment bankers or in other positions in finance that required them to put together all of these sophisticated deals, how would they know what to look for? The SEC is full of Ivy trained (which doesn’t mean as much as some folks would like to believe) lawyers who can’t figure out squat.

  3. cobble — I wasn’t planning on reading the Keith book. Patti Smith’s story interested me in part because I was always curious just how she got where she got. Like, how she got in with the Warhol crowd in the back room of Max’s. She occupies such an interesting cultural spot. I’m not so sure what it is about Keith that I don’t know but would want to find out. Besides, she’s a writer. I knew she would make it interesting.

  4. speaking of the knife edge…

I know, thru someone else, young girl, about 28, Asian, out of college, had a decent entry level job in finance. She was adopted, no other relatives, didn’t like or get along with parents.

Got laid off, blew thru all her assets. Now she’s living with a guy my age. She insists she really likes him, and maybe she does.

    Tough choices out there.

  5. DH, g10 jumps straight to the race angle on my tyson comment when I was referring to the good looks, the height, etc.

kidding aside, 11217 loves Tyson so I was merely providing some wingman coverage by hyping you up.
