In New York City, the union mentality is not the only problem,
you also have the “cash only” business mentality.
you are most likely to encounter these types when you have the misfortune to have to call one of the following:
-Plumbers
-Boiler repairmen
-Electricians
-Mechanics
Last week I called in a boiler company to clean out the boiler before truning it on for the season.
The guy comes over and changes a filter and plays with a wire and asks for $130 cash.
I didn’t have a problem with it since he said he’s come back to prime the boiler once the tank was filled.
He had me waiting for hours and when he finally shows up, tells me the line is clogged and he’ll have to charge $360 cash for an oil tank cleaning.
At that point I called his boss up and we proceeded to have a 15 minute cursing and shouting match on the phone where we agreed to meet in person one day and shove a pipe up each others whatever.
I saved myself more aggravation. went to home depot, bought a 20 foot length of 1/4 inch plastic tubing , unscrewed the oil line and shoved the plastic tubing through until the clog was unclogged.
re-attached the hosing and turned on the boiler for the season.
Saved $360 cash and more aggravation in dealing with the
“cash only” side of NYC.
But Benson, in most professions the professions run the institution, not administrators.
Teachers should be the rock stars of the school but they aren’t They are forced to make lesson plans all day and to undergo constant trainings that sap their drive to teach.
Retired teachers who try to return to the profession after moving to another state often complain, if this is what you have to do to be a teacher, to hell with it.

you’d be shocked how people almost ALWAYS inherit the financial habits of the household they grew up in, sometimes without even realizing it until they wake up one day in their 30s on a couch scrounging the cushions for change for lunch money lol.
yes a lot of people dont need it because basic economic responsibility is essentially simple in concept.. but it’s like bringing someone over from the third world and showing them your toilet bowl. wht the fuck they gonna do with that?
Hola, Snapster!

l, you read the sorry story in the NYT today about insider trading, and these guys that got arrested who worked in some kinda rail yard?
Apparently the SEC has a lot of time on its hands these days, you’d think in this environment they’d have more important things to do.
I wish all unions would institute a retire at age 65 policy. That would do a hell of a lot.

True, VERY annoying.
“Secret of Keith Richards’ longevity? If your skin is made of leather, it preserves the insides longer.”
