I remember listening to the hearings on radio. I remember how reluctant she was to testify and how careful she was to make sure her statements were not misunderstood or overinterpreted. She struck me as credible. Our own senses of credibility are all we can really go on in a situation like that. In the end I don’t think her testimony changed a single vote. Everyone believed what they wanted. It might have been different if Bork hadn’t happened first. Heels were dug in on both sides.
