  1. dibs, John Wideman is a well known intellectual with a couple of dozen books to his name, he’s not just some random schmuck.

It so happens I saw the same thing in July in a different environment. As you know I run around Manhattan much of the day. It was hot and I was tired and I had a late appt, and Manhattan was overrun with tourists. I decided to go to Central Park (just inside CPS) and chill on a bench for a while. To my disgust, every single bench was full of tourists save one. There was a single black man, a regular guy, sitting on a bench all by himself. No one sat nect to him. It was the only bench that didn’t have at least four people on it.

I gave my people a lil’ note of thanks, and took a seat, lol.

I could type things that I see like this all day long, cuz I see things like this on a regular basis. And I’m sure I miss some.

Oh, yes, I’m well aware of that. And I had the luxury of knowing that I wasn’t going to be living there forever and that I could leave the petty annoyances behind when I left.
