I hope to pay for my kids’ college tuition. My accountant says I have to save $600 per month per kid from the day they were born.
JESUS CHRIST THAT’S A LOT. I DON’T DO ANYWHERE NEAR THAT MUCH. I AM SAVING FOR STATE SCHOOL. IF THEY WANT TO GO SOMEWHERE OTHER THAN STATE SCHOOL THEY CAN EITHER (1) PAY FOR THE DIFFERENCE THEMSELVES OR (2) BE SMART ENOUGH TO NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR IT.
Honestly, I just want to keep them out of the military.”
OH FUCKING WHATEVER. I JOINED THE MILITARY. I ACTUALLY GOT A BUNCH OF COLLEGE CREDIT FOR IT. 2 “PHYSICAL EDUCATION” CREDITS FOR BOOT CAMP, COMPLETELY NOT JOKING, AND 2 “GENERAL ART” CREDITS FOR A NAVAL INTELLIGENCE PHOTOGRAPHY CLASS I TOOK WITH A BUNCH OF SEALS OUT IN SAN DIEGO.
If I have children I will do them exactly like my parents did me. While my parents could more than afford to pay full tuition and housing at any school I chose, they set a limit. I would only get what it would cost to attend a UC. Beyond that I would have to be responsible for my education. It is MY future, right? Shouldn’t I shoulder some of the financial burden? I think those were fair questions on my parents part. They spent 18 years putting me in a position to be responsible and start making decisions for myself.
Pete, the next couple of generations will be in debtors prison because of the unions and their entitlements.

I remember a lot from my college education but the two things that stick out the most are:
Why are manhole covers round?
and
Why would someone wear both suspenders and a belt?
“I resent that, dave. I’m a Poli Sci major. And just look where it got me.”
You got there notwithstanding your Poli Sci.
No degree is worthless, but some peoples efforts or worthless.

“oh and i got lost inside grand stand station. that place was a ZOOO!!! and the signs telling you where things are werent even correct.”
I’m shocked that you got lost, *rob*. Truth is, I always get lost in Grand Stand Station. I find Grand Central much easier to navigate.

“Those degrees in Poly Sci, English Lit, etc, etc, etc are worthless by and large”
I resent that, dave. I’m a Poli Sci major. And just look where it got me.
Or Ringo, they could join a rock band.
Without the Beatles, there’d be no rock bands today.
