  1. Back from my lunch date. Guess I shouldn’t be surprised y’all are still at it.

Trying to remember how this started today. Best I can recall, lechacal, ever the rabblerouser — and if ever there was a bunch of rabble who like to get aroused, it’s the PLUSAs — outed bxgrl and cobble as Republicans in his 10:32am post.

And then I innocently happened to mention that they aren’t Republicans, merely members of the Tea Party Movement, which, at 10:58am, was the first mention of the Tea Party Movement today. And the rest, as they say, is history.

  2. Demonstrators (mostly union government workers) are protesting in 12 European cities today. Some governments have been shut down.

Over what????? Over the fact that the governments throughout Europe are cutting spending.

THIS IS WHY THE EURO IS AGAIN STRONG vs. THE DOLLAR. We don’ need higher taxes here people. We need cuts in government spending…specifically government pensionentitlements.

  3. I don’t like “Contracts with America”. I don’t like this current version, either. They put in a few points that no one can disagree with, who isn’t against overspending?, and then attach other things on it, like repealing the Health Care Bill.

Most of the provisions of the HC Bill haven’t even been enacted, because Congress caved, and they chipped away at it in order to pass it. Everything is slated for the future. There have been no substantive changes to anyone’s health care as of today, except for people with insurance not being denied coverage because of pre-existing conditions, and absolutely NOTHING has been done to allow me, or Bxgrl, or MILLIONS of Americans who don’t have care to get it in the near future. So what’s the big deal?

Aside from that, I don’t like people feeling pressured to sign “contracts”. Smacks of loyalty oaths during the MacArthur years, and that was seriously scary. Any country that requires its citizens to sign oaths or contracts is on the road to fascism, which is a lot worse than any cries of “Socialism”.

  4. “‘If I have a tea party on my deck will any of you come?’

re-writing this can start raunch hour.”

Glad I could count on you to get things going, ET. I was just going to tell dave that I would come to his tea party (GOTD) but “that depends on what the meaning of [come] is”.

  5. “This is the same individual who was made famous by standing with his crew outside a voting site in the 2008 election in full regalia with a night stick in hand, attempting to intimidate voters. white voters”

I’d like to see someone in full Brownstoner regalia. What would it be?

I’m thinking some sort of colonial carribean English governer’s hat with some ostrich feathers, perhaps a monocle.
