  1. “By cmu on September 29, 2010 1:10 PM

How can one … withstand the stench of … the Toilet Paper Party?”

Sigh. You were doing so well for a while there cmu. You almost seemed like you were ready to take off the training wheels and sit at the grown-ups’ table.

  2. “China Currency Bill Will Win Bipartisan Support in House.”

This is the most asinine thing to come out of Congress in decades. It really shows that these folls know absolutely nothing about global trade, global economics, currencies or trade, absolutely nothing. The rest of the world is laughing at this.

I wonder what that luminarie Maxine Waters (CA) will say to further embarass herself!!! can’t wait.

  3. CGar, I’ve been willed a few rifles, I’ve never hunted though. I am tending toward the whole NRA point of view though – although glorification of gun culture revolts me, no matter where it comes from.

  4. ***********I know I can’t get you off politics, but********

My neighborhood is gradually changing demographically. There aren’t many sales on my block, but it seems to have young men and women, renters, “hipsters?”, new to the neighborhood, who sit on stoops at night.

They don’t smile at me when I go by. They don’t make eye contact.

The old neighbors not only smile, we talk, “how are you, how are your parents” ?, who some of them have met, to me them “how’s so and so, what’s up with your son”, your flowers look nice, etc.” I had a huge birthday cake, more than half left over and I cut up the cake and have it to several of the old timers, who I know wouldn’t just take it to be polite, but they would really like it.

There are several families — I am close to about 4 of them and they have been there, extended families, for 50+
years. They have been so kind to me, so welcoming.

Re: the hipsters, not so gracious, maybe we could just say hi. I would settle for that.

  5. Mary McDonnell’s statement is a prime example of the kind of ignorance that is being uplifted as “refreshing” and “bold” and somehow “of the people”. It’s actually embarassing. Do we really want people running this country who are that stupid? We are at our highest point in human history in terms of what we can achieve in science, technology, math, and our understanding of the universe, and then we seriously consider being ruled by people whose scientific knowlege is comparable to those living in the Dark Ages.
