“I am wondering what y’all think about Mary McDonnell’s views on evolution, including that, if evolution were real, monkeys would be evolving into human beings before our very eyes. Discuss.”
I believe an evolutionary biologist would point out that evolution of this sort is not a necessary and inevitable development but rather a chance event resulting from genetic mutation. It is by chance that our evolutionary ancestors experienced the mutations that led to humans, and it is by luck that the beneficial mutations survived to be propagated through the source species by disproportionate reproductive success. Our evolution is an unlikely event and it’s not surprising at all that it has not recurred independently of the original evolution of our species.
In fact I think that’s spot on, but what do I know.
Whatever the hell her name is. Not paying all that much attention other than the Bill Maher clips. Must’ve had the actress in mind cuz she was on West Wing and I just watched here there yesterday. (Still, MM fell for it, hehhehheh.)
Interesting, jester, thanks. Just wondering. Have a close friend who has moved upstate NY and he has become a hunter and very pro-gun and pro-NRA.

That’s VERY interesting!
I fear I am one of those non-friendly types although inside I want to be one of those friendly types
my husband says hello to EVERYONE and everyone wherever we live seems to love him – me – am like a brown paper bag everyone ignores-haaaaaaaa
I think for me I just am afraid if some man says “good morning” am thinking he’s trying to come on to me – I know that’s not always the case but I don;t want to get into a habit with some
I try smiling at other women but I usually get a tepid response
The problem is that you did not grow up in a British debating environment. “stench”=”nasty smell” as in “I don’t want to be associated with a party that…”
— tolerates the TP extremists, nay, gets in bed with them
— allows borderline racist ads and statements by its members
— thinks that millionaires are not taxed enough
— is against a first small step to get some health-care equity for us
— has negligible representation amongst minorities
— is supremely jingoistic about immigration
— has a standard bearer (McCain) who has flip-flopped about 20 times on so many conceivable issues that he might, indeed, be considered a ‘maverick’ after all
— listens to Palin, that demagogic, semi-literate ignoramus as a major mover and shaker
— has Gingrich, that charmer who told his wife about the divorce in hospital bed and who thinks Obama is affected by his Keynan-ness, as a king-maker and potential pres. candidate
— Has the WSJ as its spokespaper
— Tolerates Dines D’Souza’s rubbishy rants
— I could go on and on, and I didn’t even get to the Bush era yet

that isnt necessarily true. id wager to bet that there are lots of people on earth in fact are not descendents of any creatures on earth. proving we came from monkeys is just as suspect as proving we come from aliens from other galaxies. granted i do think we for the most part probably did evolve from monkeys, but i doubt everyone did.
i love science, but i hate people who latch onto certain concepts are refuse to challenge them.
monkeys are disgusting (cute but disgusting) they eat other’s head lice and love flinging poop.

Well it apparently confirms that some human beings are evolving into monkeys*.
*humans are on the ape side not the monkey side. No tails.
