  1. I think its perfectly acceptable not to have to talk to twenty people in your neigbhorhood on your way to the subway, especially before one has had one’s coffee. What is this, Mr. Rogers Land?

  2. Actually I think the West Wing actress is Mary McCormick.

And Mary MacGregor was the 70s singer of “Torn Between Two Lovers”, so she’s prolly not the Delaware Tea Party Senate nominee either.

    Huh.

    >Please define “the stench of republicanism.”

The problem is that you did not grow up in a British debating environment.

OH PLEASE. COME DOWN OFF YOUR TAJ.

  4. that isnt necessarily true. id wager to bet that there are lots of people on earth in fact are not descendents of any creatures on earth. proving we came from monkeys is just as suspect as proving we come from aliens from other galaxies. granted i do think we for the most part probably did evolve from monkeys, but i doubt everyone did.

i love science, but i hate people who latch onto certain concepts are refuse to challenge them.

monkeys are disgusting (cute but disgusting) they eat other’s head lice and love flinging poop.

    *rob*

    Another Democrat talking.

  5. MM,

you are clearly not getting my points.
On the first post about the “racism” charges.
Sure there are examples of dispicable behavior on both sides of the aisle.
That’s my point. My point is that the Right doesn’t routinely condemn the Left as “racists” simply by pointing the the nut jobs. That’s not debate, that’s an attempt at censorship. debate the merits or lack of merits of smaller government, free markets and self determination. That’s what those people are showing up to protest about.

    on the Healthcare bill,
I resent you saying that my post was a whole lot of nothing, there is most definitely something to what I’m saying.
I’m giving you the distilled analysis of why it won’t work.
Many people have an intuitive sense of why this healthcare bill won’t work. I’m giving you the fundamental philosophical reasons it won’t work.
It attempts to meld free markets and entitlements. two things inherently at odds.

  6. MM>Do we really want people running this country who are that stupid? We are at our highest point in human history in terms of what we can achieve in science, technology, math, and our understanding of the universe, and then we seriously consider being ruled by people whose scientific knowlege is comparable to those living in the Dark Ages

It’s odd isn’t it that this country, whose claim to fame, power and wealth is most dependent on it’s scientific advances in practically every field, is also highly anti-science, anti-technology and super-religious? I mean, it’s incredible that 50% of the US does not believe in evolution! The comparable figure for Europe is lower (less?) than half that.

  7. “proving we came from monkeys is just as suspect as proving we come from aliens from other galaxies.”

You mean all that molecular biology and those fossils and the behavioral studies are just as suspect as your off-the-top-of-your-nut random speculation?

  8. ***********I know I can’t get you off politics, but********

My neighborhood is gradually changing demographically. There aren’t many sales on my block, but it seems to have young men and women, renters, “hipsters?”, new to the neighborhood, who sit on stoops at night.

They don’t smile at me when I go by. They don’t make eye contact.

The old neighbors not only smile, we talk, “how are you, how are your parents” ?, who some of them have met, to me them “how’s so and so, what’s up with your son”, your flowers look nice, etc.” I had a huge birthday cake, more than half left over and I cut up the cake and have it to several of the old timers, who I know wouldn’t just take it to be polite, but they would really like it.

There are several families — I am close to about 4 of them and they have been there, extended families, for 50+
years. They have been so kind to me, so welcoming.

Re: the hipsters, not so gracious, maybe we could just say hi. I would settle for that.

donatella you are soooo right. I will walk to and from the train every day and say hello to people whom I don’t even know but they are passing by.

I’m going out on a limb here saying this but it’s only the older residents, mostly black folks who always say hello and usually they are first. never do any of the (largely white) transplants (largely younger douchebag, er I mean hipster types) ever acknowledge anyone’s existence.
