  1. MM, one of my old boyfriends, who himself has become a very successful architect in Chicago (having sold his firm twice) started out with Stanley Tigerman after graduating Univ of Il.

Not sure how famous he’s really become…C. Martinez.

  2. Unfortunately Dave, most of the front row signers of this oh-so-moral and flag waving “Contract with America” turned out to be some of the worst people in government in the last 30 years, morally, ethically, and otherwise. I wouldn’t hold them up as anything other than examples of what NOT to do.

  3. “Why be in disguise ditto? Just join us for lunch forchrissake. We don’t bite.”
It was tongue in cheek – as I’ve never turned up to any events I’m in disguise whatever.

  4. Speaking of apprenticeships, I had a revelation the other day, I was given part of a can of Fine Paints of Europe Hollandiac Brilliant to finish my doorframe. What a paint!

I went on their website to find out more about them and ran across this:

“In Europe, a qualified painter is on the same socio-economic level as an accountant or dentist in the United States. Dutch painters serve a six-year apprenticeship, belong to a guild, and attend regular refresher courses on product and technique. These craftsmen are well-compensated and take great pride in their work.”
