Horseshoe crabs are cool. The have a hard carapace like a semi-circular bowl like brown shell about 7 inches in Diameter, and inside they have six legs and gills behind the legs to swim in the water. Attached to the shell is a smaller piece connected to a huge 12 inch or so pointed stick like protuberance that helps them navigate or swim. They are ancient species unchanged for around for 300 million years directly descended from mites.
I used to see them on the beach in Staten Island. One of the fun unsupervised activites was picking them up by the stick thing and throwing them at people.
Happy to see no one here got badly hurt (except for rob who seems to have emotionally traumatized himself by bringing aunts into the house). I was amazed our building didn’t get any damage- except for my bedroom, living room and bathroom because I had my windows open, so while i stared openmouthed at the storm in front, rain poured in my windows in the back. *THWACK!* (Smacked myself.)
Rob, that tribeca elementary school is best in the city’s public system. btw, I’m guilty of spoiling – ie I bought freaking iPad for the mini-me 3rd b’day.
I disagree, *rob*. I would pay higher taxes if it improved education enough to keep kids from becoming criminals, breaking into my house, or clubbing me over the head and snatching my fancy gadgets.
i like the idea of parents pitching in for supplies and programs. makes me, as a tax payer who’s taxes go to schools i have no use for, happy. single people really should get a school based tax refund. what does nyc spend per pupil? like 8000 dollars or something? we should be able to get 8000 dollars back when we file our taxes if we dont have kids. i know that would never fly, but if i was mayor id make that happen
time for some fair weather boasting – gold is gittering once again. wish I owned some nice big thick gold rope chains
I don’t do that any more, that was a childhood activity.

rob, property taxes are deductible.
But you have to own a property first.
