  1. Dave, the mere discussion of the nuances of Islamic theology, cultural strains and tensions/pulls, etc. is a gigantic step in moving past the kind of psychotic crap that is dominating the public discourse. (One can also discuss in detail the history of Christianity and the tensions there as well as the different expressions of Judaism). Sunni and Shia strains developed differently and and Sufism might be considered by some to be a little New Agey, but just talking about that transforms the discussion from something where everything is conflated with Islamic based terrorism to a more real understanding of the faith.

    Hey Benson!

  3. Donatella:
my thoughts: while it may not be in good taste to build a mosque so close to the towers- it’s their right to do so – so let them do it – case closed! I think it’s more appalling that there is still a big open hole at Ground Zero where no building or memorial has been erected in 9 years! families should be more worried abut that.

onto the kid who slashed the cabbie – its wrong, horrible etc – but what I find strange is all his work in Afganistan so either he might suffer from PTS and lashed out at the cabbie thinking he was in a military zone or he hate muslims and wants tho kill them
