  1. You know, Benson, I guess I am contradicting myself about Bloomberg because I agree that he missed an opportunity to calm things down and show some understanding and compassion to those who are upset about it, effectively shutting off talk, dialogue, reason, which is what is desperately needed now. Do you just take a baseball bat and slam it over their heads (it is their RIGHT so STFU!) or do you try to show some understanding of their sensibilities and allow for a REAL public discussion where something might actually be RESOLVED??? He did articulate the fact that they have the right to build there which is correct and didn’t equivocate about that part, which I respect, in contrast to Obama who said nothing in the end. I am very disappointed in Obama’s performance.

    yep but they give you ‘tude when you ask for it. and these days they only give you ONE pack of crackers, and apparently the hot sauce went the way of the dodo bird.

    food inflation is out of control. i swear im just going to start taking my lunches at the homeless shelter on the bowery.

  3. “Donatella -I agree with you, but you are giving too much credit to most Americans that they have the brain capacity to actually understand that Islam has differing sects”

    I’ve switched religions many times.

    I’m a sects machine.

  4. GRRRRRRRRRRRR! dave must be psychic! it really doesnt take much to put me in a bad mood. went to wendy’s for the value menu chili (it used to be called the dollar menu just a few years ago, but you know it goes). well they raised the price AGAIN! a small chili is now 2.06! i was able to handle it when it came out to less than 2 bux but im sorry the psychological aspects of that 6 cents annoys me. i am never going back. screw you wendy! stick that 6 cents up your fire crotch for all i care.

  5. Donatella -I agree with you, but you are giving too much credit to most Americans that they have the brain capacity to actually understand that Islam has differing sects – these are the same Americans who probably only think Christians are Christians and not broken up into different sects based on varying degrees of belief.

  6. Donatella;

    I couldn’t disagree with you more about Bloomberg’s leadership in this case. In general I am a huge supporter of Bloomberg. In this case, IMO, he inflamed the issue. First, he mistates the crux of the issue. NO ONE is challenging their legal right to build the mosque, yet he argues as if someone is mounting a court case to do so. Secondly, he didn’t reach out to those who felt that the location was inappropriate and insenstivie. Rather, he painted them as a bunch of bigots. While this may be good tactics for some folks on the OT, it does nothing to resolve the issue. It is political grandstanding, not leadership.
