    SO seriously…

How do I propose that bike riders now should pay insurance and registration?
What branch of Govt do I go to?

Motor Vehicles – NY State. While you are at it, you might suggest a bike riding test and liscense exam, which I proposed here once — half in jest — and the mace swinging bike thugs spent the day screaming talking about saving the planet and thumping their chests.

  2. DOn’t get me started on bike lanes! I think you al know my position!
but yes I pay a hefty price to keep a car in the city with registration and insurance and inspection etc
Why not bikes? If bike riders are now doubling in #’s to ride to work – that means they are using roads or lanes to get places and should have to pay for monthly insurance and yearly registration!
    THAT’S IT!!!

Donatella – yes I paid 1 fare! – but those ferries are AWFULLY expensive to maintain and buy heavens to bid they friggin run into a damn wall again! – also that new fancy pants terminal they have cost the city a pretty penny!
sorry to sound like a grump

How much do you think it costs to maintain the tunnel from Brooklyn to Manhattan, the Brooklyn Bridge (also FREE), the Manhattan Bridge (FREE) and the Williamsburg Bridge (FREE).

  4. Orange County treasurer was a Democrat, Pete. He went to jail.

Both parties have often been pretty bad to be fair. For financial mismanagement by a Republican controlled authority, see Nassau County in the 1990’s. They were close to bankruptcy.
