“Being against cycling is like being against solar panels”
I’m sorry I misread your forum post. I thought you were installing skylights, not solar panels.
Skylights will provide more sun in your home and being on the top floor and we all know heat rises, therefore probably increasing your use of air conditioning.
I think the plan for tolls into Manhattan, including the free bridges, was to use overhead sensors to signal the EZPass or, if the car had no EZPass, to photograph the license plate and send a bill later. I don’t think you need any clearance on a bridge to use these devices. For sure you couldn’t have toll booths on any of the East River crossings–aside from the delays, there would be terrible air quality issues with all those idling cars.
I’ve driven under these overhead sensors on the Outerbridge Crossing between Staten Island and NJ, and on one of the NYS Thruway tolls where you get a paper ticket. And I think I’ve seen them on the NJ Tpke and/or Garden State Parkway. These crossings also use booths for those without EZPass.
You ride your bike to work, correct?
Let’s say (and I am not saying you do this) but you are talking on your cell and you are riding the bikelane along the approach to the Brooklyn Bridge – I am driving my car at a normal speed next you, you are talking and you don’t realize there is a bump and you swerve into the lane I am in which causes me to swerve into the lane next to me to avoid flattening you like a pancake and now I have hit another car – two cars are now dented up both requiring extensive bodywork – you speed away on your bike totally unaware
now us drivers have to use our insurance companies to fight it out resulting on money spent from both of us and our insurance goes up!
That’s a huge problem in my eyes! I just think if biker riders are now demanding services like lanes, hitching posts etc then why not pay to be legit?

i think more people would be sympathetic to biker’s needs if werent trying to act like martyrs all the time. newsflash, you really aint helping the environment because most people who ride bikes arent the kinds of people who use or even NEED cars. telling people who rely on cars to switch to bikes is not even feasable. i mean yeah, it is for people who drive their car 5 blocks which is totally absurd, but for the most part your analogies are just ridiculous.
im not anti bike, im anti this whole martyr complex and omg we are the ones who are saving the environment blah blah blah. believe me in the grand scheme of things you are doing shyte.
do i think more people should ride a bike instead of use a car of it’s feasible? of course. but that is very few people actually.

“Being against cycling is like being against solar panels. People should be given incentives to cycle more and drive less, not penalized for it.”
This would only be true is solar panels were obnoxious and made people uncomfortable, fearing for their safety.
lo siento with the grammar

“”With all due respect to G10 and Dona”—
so is it that they get respect when I don’t get any?”
Yes, because they’re both much cuter than you (with all due respect).
Bikers up here are probably worse than NYC. Bike lanes are a v.controversial topic here as well.
