  1. Lech, that just reinforces my surprise that your father would assume you would get along better with corporate types. Seems to me you would get along better with people living off the land, practicing trades, entrepreuners, etc. You said “…but I would probably…hang out with people who are more like me if I did well in school.” Despite the fact that you can be very successful in what you do, in many ways, you don’t have the mentality of a Wall Street lawyer, which, in general, is probably a very good thing.

  2. “I actually made an attempt to do this earlier this year but didn’t get spousal approval.”

Despite the desire to return to manual labor, we see who wears the trousers in this family. LOL

  3. “You file, you go to the post office, and you’ve been doing the same thing for the last ten years, in spite of having a college degree. If you have a work ethic, apparently your employer doesn’t recognize it. I once had a job like that, I moved on in six months.”

    OHHHH! He shoots, he scores!

  4. Biff, I personally prefer manual labor over white collar work. Unfortunately we live in a society where laboreres are routinely assumed to be unfit for “better” white collar work and for the most part people who are capable of doing so enter fields like medicine, banking, engineering, management, law, etc. I often think about going back to logging or running a sawmill. I actually made an attempt to do this earlier this year but didn’t get spousal approval.
