  1. “It FRIGHTENED you? Jeez. Man up a little. You’re in Brooklyn now! Imagine if she had yelled out “BOO!” Would you have run away?”

Yes, and he would have spilled his pina colada everywhere.
    🙂

  2. “And what about letting people speak and express themselves freely so they don’t get really, really pissed off at you and do dangerous shit. ”

especially if it’s typically dangerous shit that’s not fun.

  3. And, lest my opinion be discounted by some, given I’m Canadian, I’m also an American citizen and my office was directly across the street from the WTC during 9/11 and was severely damaged from the attacks.

  4. ishtar,
racism is an argument for another day.
    no denying that one.

    notice 11217 and pete
pulling the argument over sharia into the
christian right here in the USA.

I know there are religious zealots on both
    sides,
to equate their religious beliefs with the
political and social strength to enact
them, as the Islamist do around the world,
    is another story.

In other words, you are only fighting
    your fellow Americans
to open the doorway to a much larger foe.

  5. “I felt a cold chill come over me. It was like someone had opened up a ten thousand year old tomb, and I was about to go inside. It was frightening.”

It FRIGHTENED you? Jeez. Man up a little. You’re in Brooklyn now!

Imagine if she had yelled out “BOO!” Would you have run away?

  6. A brand new enormous, opulant mosque opened a couple of years ago in Toronto. It was celebrated by people of all backgrounds, including my little old Jewish mother who takes people not only past it, but for a look inside.

Yes, it’s not next to the WTC site and Toronto was not subject to attacks on 9/11, but I still think Canadians react very differently to such issues than Americans.

I’m disappointed and surprised by some of the covert racism in this thread.
