DH, I had a restaurant upstate run a amex bill for $2500. Obviously they were in trouble, and must have been pissed when I saw it and reported it the very next morning.
I was astounded at the sheer number of people who were called for jury duty — i.e. all the butts in the seats there — versus those whose names were even called to be considered for the jury selection process. Only about a quarter of the people even had their names called for the selection process.
“Rob, you wrote a very thoughtful, compassionate, and heartfelt piece at the end of yesterday’s HOTD.”
Gee, MM, just on your say-so I went back and read the whole thread. So, rob admits he crosses the street when he sees a group of black kids coming his way, and you like it? Is this just what happens when we lower our standards for *rob* or am I missing something?
After all, since rob never goes anywhere these threatening groups of black kids were most likely seen in PS or Tribeca.
Has anyone else been at a restaurant before – received the bill, and then had the server run the card for a different amount?
Was at Marlow and Sons last night – bill was like $63. I remember commenting “wow, that’s cheap” – gave the card to the waitress and she runs it through for $95!
i brought it to her attention and she had the correct credit card receipt already printed – which was weird.
OK it’s been fun. Gotta go do stuff. Well no I don’t gotta do anything. I’m gonna go do a bunch of stuff that I just feel like doing, cause it’s my month off and I can do whatever the hell I want. So I’m gonna take a shower (just came back from a nice run in the park) and then take my daughter to lunch.

I spent the entire time on jury duty reading the financial services legislation. I’m up to about page 400.
