Yeah DIBS – it was weird. they’ve been taking cards for a while now – but it was surprisingly busy last night so she prolly just hit the 9 instead of the 6.

haha m4l – that is fishy as hell! that reminds me of a class action lawsuit the sushi chefs/servers filed against the owner of the uber expensive place Masa in the Time Warner Center. Apparently they included tip in the bill, but put a disclaimer that the ‘service charge’ doesn’t go to staff. So on top of your 500 dollar sushi, you pay a 20% service fee and are expected to tip another 20% (which most people didn’t) – shady meng!

DH, never encounter that but have encountered the tip already in the total but way receipt looks (when presented to you to sign), it implies tip not included (ie tip line is blank for you to fill in the amt). when I catch that, I usually write “nice try” on that blank tip line
