i like amy sedaris. actually i pretty much only liked her in strangers with candy. i tried to give her other stuff a shot but it wasnt very good, except maybe her part as a maid in the jennifer lopez movie maid to order? i actually saw her on the street one time and i tried to say hi and she totally snubbed me. i think she’s a total snob in real life.

Singapore Airline flight attendants are great great great. but the China airlines tops them on eye candy as their hiring practices are pretty blatant – ie aint young hot eye candy, not hired.

Other airline pet peeve = bathroom Nazi pilots / attendants. Refuse to switch off the fasten seatbelt sign even in completely calm air, or bitch you out if you go when the sign is on.
Only ever been on Virgin once, donatella. Can see how they might be rough, though.
On the other topic – I think not giving dates might be a mistake. Invites people to assume there’s something to hide, even if there isn’t.
ENY, my comments to cobble were only partially job-related, it was just an existential thing, like don’t call yourself middle-aged. Some fields are really “young” I think. In my area too – certain jobs in financial services seem to be dominated by 30ish year old young men, i.e. certain trading jobs. Socially, it is not my milleu; they don’t want me either.

Hey donatella, while I understand how that happened, those are the rules. The airlines rarely take cash for meals these days,likely as a means to avoid issues regarding “shortage.”
Are you allowed to indiscriminately disregard the rules in place where you work? Suppose the flight attendant was fairly new…would (or should) that person feel confident breaking the rules just because you are hungry? How many “hungry” people might he/she encounter in his/her day? Should they break the rules for them, too?
I fly all of the time and certainly encounter rude flight attendants, but some passengers are equally rude and unreasonable.
If I tell you that Denton it will reveal my real name…you have read his book, you once told me so.
