[“All, too, will bear in mind this sacred principle, that though the will of the majority is in all cases to prevail, that will to be rightful must be reasonable; that the minority possess their equal rights, which equal law must protect, and to violate would be oppression.”]
So Brooklyncouch’s assertion that the majority in this country do not believe in gay marriage (yet) is moot according to Jefferson. I happen to agree.
Once gay marriage is legal in this country and all the haters realize that the world did not end, it will seem as ridiculous as the idea that at one point women weren’t allowed to vote.
11217 — Totally agree with that! I also liked that house your posted earlier. It would be perfect for me… well, if someone could give me, say, a million bucks. 🙂
sorry JB but I’m having hard time believing you would be cool with that. I see you wearing the pants in the marriage – not that you’re bossy or anything but allowing a dude to marry multiple girls just seems beneath you.
“Brooklyncouch is either a closeted homosexual, got turned down for an adoption and holds it against gays or isn’t really a lawyer, because quite frankly, not one thing he has said would lead me to believe he has an understanding of the law. ”
This is what I’ve been trying to acertain by the question I asked. i suspect all three.
“I vote, because I consider it to be my duty to do so. However, I don’t subscribe to the idea that if you do NOT vote, you shouldn’t be able to complain about the government. That’s just silly. As citizens of the USA we have the right to speak our minds about what our government is doing. It is not voting that gives us this right, it is simply being a citizen that does so.”
i just googled why not choosing to vote and apparently there are lot of us out there with valid opinions.
There is evidence that gay marriages were performed during the early period of the Roman Empire.

If you don’t believe in equal rights for every person in this country, please leave because you are not a true American. I don’t throw around the America is the greatest stuff much (because quite frankly I could see myself living permanently in various other countries) but our freedom is THE ONLY THING that makes America truly great and separates us from the rest.
It is a sin that Argentina (a deeply religious nation) has passed a law allowing gay marriage before the U.S.
Until EVERY person in this country is treated equally, America is blemished and SHOULD NOT consider itself a truly great country. Certainly not one that goes around bullying other countries into “OUR” idea of freedom.
why would a dude want more than one wife? that’s a lot more nagging!!
heh – you said duty.
And to quote Thomas Jefferson:

ADDITIONAL RIGHTS?!
BrooklynCouch, What sort of law do you practice? I really hope it’s not contract law! And I hope you don’t actually charge your clients.
