  1. “denton, would that incent you to expand your biz or all your employees highly skilled & paid ones way above min wage?”

m4l, we do some light manufacturing and some shipping and receiving. When I was in Manhattan I used to hire young ex-offenders, usually in the joint for drugs. Drug dealing is capitalism at its purest, so they start with a good understanding of business.

Now shop on LI, harder to do it, but we still got some kidz from the hood.

Anyway it would be very simple to pay these people under min wage but I never got the point. If I pay min wage I think $7.25 an hour, never start anyone under $10 an hour. Difference to me is lets say $3/hour, or $120/week. The $120 a week in pocket is not a lot of money, but a lot to someone on that level. Of course if you have 100 employees it adds up, but I guess that’s what makes me an effin liberal. If I wasn’t a wuss about trying to take care of my people maybe I’d be a master of the universe instead of posting on brownstoner.

  2. denton,
it’s not so much of the content of the NYTimes as much as it is the lack of content.
for an elegant rebuke to your assertion I refer you to this little tidbit:

A non-fiction book stands at #1 on the NYTimes book list for 12 weeks.
But they don’t bother to review it?

…oh yeah, you can judge a book by it’s cover at the NYTimes; “Liberty and Tyranny, a Conservative Manifesto”

    lol.
